Tropical cattle ranching, as developed in Brazil, is unique in the world. It was shaped by hard work, adaptation to our climate, respect for natural cycles, and a deep bond with the land. It is not only about numbers or output — it is a living culture, built on affections, knowledge passed down through generations, and a way of life that persists, adapts, and strives to evolve. But important challenges remain. And no one is better prepared to face them than those who live it every day: the ranchers.
This space is a commitment: to tell the story of Brazilian cattle ranching with honesty. To recognize challenges, but above all, to show real progress, responsible practices, technological innovation, and the daily dedication of thousands of ranchers who are working as part of the climate solution.
We want to build bridges between countryside and city. To bring those who have never stepped on a pasture closer to the reality of those who live from it. To share knowledge, but also to awaken empathy. Because only with information, listening, and mutual respect can we see cattle ranching beyond stereotypes — as it truly is: human, complex, essential.
This is an invitation to dialogue, understanding, and the creation of a new narrative — one that is fairer, more sensitive, and more truthful. The Tropical Cattle Ranching for the Climate project mobilizes commercial ranchers from the states of Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, and Pará. Its purpose is to shape a common position with commitments and demands for the transition to low-carbon production. This collaborative document starts with the history of ranching, told by those who live it, and points toward a vision of the future. It is an organic action led by men and women reclaiming their voice. The movement is guided by a Steering Committee and a Working Group — both composed of ranchers.
